Mr. HARMSWORTH

asked the Minister of Health whether he will give a list of boards of guardians, covering coalfield areas, which have become insolvent owing to paying relief to miners' families, and figures showing the debts they have thereby incurred?

STATEMENT showing the debt outstanding in 78 Unions which include over 80 per cent. of the mining population in England and Wales on 31st March, 1926, and 30th September, 1926, and amounts which the Guardians have been authorized to borrow since the 30th September, 1926.
