HC Deb 27 February 1924 vol 170 c503W
Mr. CLUSE

asked the Minister of Transport if he can state, in view of the number of fatal accidents caused by passengers falling out of trains, whether the railway companies are taking any steps to fix automatic locks upon their carriage doors which would prevent the doors being opened from the inside whilst the train was in motion?

Mr. GOSLING

The railway companies do not propose, so far as I am aware, to equip railway carriage doors with automatic locks. I may add that this question is referred to on page 13 of the Report upon Railway Accidents for the year 1922, of which I am sending my hon. Friend a copy.
