HC Deb 27 February 1924 vol 170 cc502-3W
Mr. A. T. DAVIES

asked the Minister of Transport whether he has promised any support to the proposed St. Paul's Bridge; and whether his attention has been drawn to the statement made to the City Corporation on Thursday last that Southwark Bridge, on which great sums have just been spent, is now so little used that it carries in one day less traffic than the much smaller bridge at Putney does in an hour?

Mr. GOSLING

Assistance was offered from the Road Fund towards the cost of forming approaches to the proposed St. Paul's Bridge. My attention has not been called to the statement referred to by the hon. Member, but I am not prepared to admit the relevance to St. Paul's Bridge of traffic statistics taken on Southwark Bridge or Putney Bridge.
