HC Deb 26 April 1923 vol 163 cc715-6W
Mr. E. DAVIES

asked the Minister of Pensions if he is aware that the case of the late William Cavender, No. 13,363, 3rd Battalion, South Wales Borderers, has been before the Regional Director, Cardiff, since October, 1922; and will he take the necessary steps to help the Regional Director to arrive at a decision a little earlier in such cases?

Major TRYON

This case presented unusual difficulty, and the rather long time which it has taken to arrive at a decision has been occupied in an endeavour to establish connection between the fatal disability and service, which terminated 3½ years before the soldier's death. The claim has now, however, been decided, and I regret that it has not been found possible, after exhaustive inquiries, to admit entitlement to pension. The applicant has been informed of the right of appeal to the tribunal against the decision.
