HC Deb 12 April 1923 vol 162 c1326W
Lord CRICHTON-STUART

asked the Under-Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs whether His Majesty's Government have any information to the effect that foodstuffs have been exported in bulk from Russia, where famine conditions still prevail over a large area?

Mr. McNEILL

The exports of grain from Russia for 1922 are believed to have been about 4,800 tons. No exact information is available as to exports during the current year; but it is probable that some cargoes have left Russia and the agents of the Russian Government estimate that from 150,000 to 350,000 tons will be sold abroad during 1923.
