HC Deb 02 March 1922 vol 151 c595W
Mr. MACLEAN

asked the Home Secretary whether ex-Inspector John Syme is at present released under the Prisoners (Temporary Discharge for Ill-Health Act), 1913; and whether it is the intention of the Government to re-arrest him when he recovers from the effects of hunger strike?

Mr. SHORTT

If Syme does not return to prison in accordance with the conditions of his release, steps will have to be taken to enforce the remainder of his sentence, unless he finds the sureties to keep the peace required by the Court.
