HC Deb 04 December 1922 vol 159 c1239W
Sir W. DAVISON

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer what was the number of staff employed and the total salaries paid in each Government Department for the years 1914 and 1922, respectively?

Mr. BALDWIN

These figures are not available and could not be furnished without considerable labour. Particulars of the nature desired were, however, given as regards 1919 and 1921 in an answer given to the hon. Member for Stretford on the 20th March last, of which I am sending my hon. Friend a copy. I should add that bonus is now related to a cost of living figure of 85.
