HC Deb 31 May 1921 vol 142 c864W
Viscount CURZON

asked the Home Secretary how many motor cyclist police are now employed, and with what results; and can the further extension of this branch of the force now be considered?

Mr. SHORTT

Twenty motor cyclist police officers are now regularly employed on special road duties, namely, 10 as drivers and 10 as observers. They have reported for process a number of cases of dangerous driving, obstruction by slow moving traffic, etc.; but it is yet too early to determine whether an extension of this branch can be undertaken.
