HC Deb 31 May 1921 vol 142 c864W
Sir I. PHILIPPS

asked the Minister of Agriculture whether supplementary pensions granted under the Pensions (Increase) Act, 1920, are paid to Post Office pensioners monthly while Ordnance Survey pensioners are only paid quarterly; and whether he will make arrangements with the Treasury to bring the payment of pensions to Ordnance Survey pensioners under the monthly system?

Mr. YOUNG

The payment of the increase to pensioners from the Ordnance Survey under the Pensions (Increase) Act, 1920, has been authorised quarterly as a provisional arrangement only, in view of the amount of work involved in assessing the increases, and the fact that the first amount paid in respect of the increase was in most cases for the amount due for not less than two quarters (1st April, 1920 to 30th September, 1920). Where, however, any desire is expressed for monthly payment, steps will be taken to meet the wish of the pensioner.
