HC Deb 02 June 1921 vol 142 c1256W
Mr. HAYWARD

asked the Chief Secretary whether two cadets were arrested by General Crozier for trial by court-martial in connection with a charge of intimidation at the fire brigade station at Ballsbridge, Dublin; whether General Crozier's evidence against them was considered by the court of inquiry after his resignation; and why they were finally released without trial?

Sir H. GREENWOOD

If the hon. Member would refer to the reply given by my right hon. Friend the Attorney-General to the hon. Member for South Down (Mr. MacVeagh) on the 14th April, he will see that the matter was made the subject of a full official inquiry, which showed that the allegations made could not be substantiated. As these allegations have been repeated with—so far as I am at present aware—no justification, I have called for a further report.
