asked the Chief Secretary whether the two members of the Crown forces arrested in connection with the murder of Whelan, Ballyrowan, the one arrested in connection with the murder of Lawless, Maryborough, the three in connection with the murder of Kennedy and Murphy, Dublin, the one in connection with the murder of Dixon, County Wicklow, the one in connection with the murder of Thompson, Delvin, and the two in connection with the murder of Prendergast, Carysville Island, have yet been tried and with what result; and whether any other members of the Crown forces are at present on trial or awaiting trial on charges of murder or manslaughter?

The cases of the members of the Crown forces arrested in connection with the deaths of James Whelan and N. D. Prendergast are at present under investigation. Those arrested in connection with the deaths of James Murphy and Patrick Kennedy will be tried on the 12th instant. Those arrested in connection with the deaths of Thomas Lawless and Robert Dixon will be tried shortly. A member of the Crown forces has been tried for the alleged murder of Patrick Thompson and acquitted. Two other members of the Crown forces are at present in custody on a charge of murder.
