HC Deb 18 November 1919 vol 121 c392W
Mr. W. THORNE

asked the Home Secretary whether he is aware that his-Department has had under consideration for some time the question of recognition of special services which have been rendered by fire brigades during the War; if he is aware that a number of officers and men in the West Ham Fire Brigade distinguished themselves in an exceptional manner during the War period; and if he can see his way to recommend the award of the British Empire Medal in all such cases as may be considered and recommended by the superintendent of the West, Ham Fire Brigade?

Mr. SHORTT

The recommendations to which the hon. Member refers have been received and are under consideration along with many others. I cannot now say what recommendations I may be able to make to His Majesty.
