HC Deb 17 November 1919 vol 121 c638W
Major DAVIES

asked the Secretary of State for War if he can state the strength of the armies which will be maintained in future by the states who are members of the League of Nations and by those who have been invited to join the League of Nations, and the approximate annual cost of each army?

Mr. CHURCHILL

I would remind my hon. and gallant Friend that there is no League of Nations at present. Until the League has been formed it is not possible to determine the strength and cost of the armies to be maintained by its members.

Major DAVIES

asked the First Lord of the Admiralty if he can state the strength of the navies which will be maintained in future by the states who are members of the League of Nations and by those who have been invited to join the League of Nations, and the approximate annual cost of each navy?

Mr. LONG

I would refer my hon. Friend to the reply I gave on the 5th November to a similar question by the hon. and gallant Member for the Central Division of Kingston-upon-Hull.
