HC Deb 15 December 1919 vol 123 c59W
Mr. N. MACLEAN

asked the Secretary of State for War whether he is aware that Private Charles William Boyce, No. 1017, 1st Battalion King's Liverpool Regiment, who first enlisted on 17th December, 1917, was sent to France in May, 1918, re-enlisted on 23rd May, 1919, and was discharged from the Army with heart trouble on 24th October, 1919; whether it is the case that he only received £1 ration money and a seven days' pass, and has not yet received his official discharge; whether this man called at Whitehall on Monday 8th December, and the officials declined to to see him; whether he can sign at the Labour Exchanges, as he has no discharge papers and has had to pawn all his effects to obtain food; and what steps he is prepared to take to enable this man to obtain his papers and gratuity?

Mr. CHURCHILL

I was not previously aware of this case, but enquiries are now being made, and the hon. Member will be informed of the result.
