HC Deb 21 March 1918 vol 104 c1227W
Mr. WILES

asked the Postmaster-General who is responsible for the management of the Staff at the Central Telegraph Office refreshment rooms and who fixes the prices charged, and considers any complaints or suggestions which may be made?

Mr. ILLINGWORTH

A committee of management, partly nominated by the Postmaster-General and partly elected by the Staff, has been appointed, and arrangements are being made for this committee to appoint a professional catering manager who would be responsible to the committee. Pending his appointment the management of the refreshment branch is in the hands of an executive appointed by the Postmaster-General. This executive is responsible for the management of the staff of the refreshment branch; it fixes the prices charged, and considers any complaints or suggestions which may be made. When the manager has been appointed the committee will take over the functions hitherto exercised by the executive.
