HC Deb 04 March 1918 vol 103 c1725W
119. Captain BARNETT

asked the Under-Secretary of State for War whether soldiers proceeding on leave to this country are now provided with ration cards covering the period of such leave; and, if not, whether arrangements will be made enabling soldiers on leave to purchase rationed foods with the minimum of delay and formality?

Mr. MACPHERSON

As I informed my hon. and gallant Friend the Member for Rotherhithe on the 28th February, in answer to a similar question, the arrangements for the issue of meat tickets were devised by the Food Controller. Special tickets will be issued to officers and men returning from overseas to enable them to obtain meat meals during the journey on their way home and on return. The possibility of extending this system to cover the whole or greater part of the leave spent by officers and men is now being discussed with the Food Controller.
