HC Deb 04 July 1917 vol 95 c1120W
Mr. O'DONNELL

asked the Chief Secretary for Ireland what steps he proposes to take to amend the law so as to secure that small licence holders in Ireland get their proper proportion of beer in future, and also compensation for what has been withheld from them; and what steps does he propose to take-against those traders who refuse to supply one-third to their former customers?

Mr. DUKE

I cannot add anything to the answer my right hon. Friend the Chancellor of the Exchequer gave the hon. Member yesterday, except that I have taken a recent opportunity of calling personal attention of some brewers in Ireland to the alleged withholding of supplies by the dealers, and that I believe brewers generally will do what they can to secure fair treatment for the vendors of their products.
