HC Deb 21 February 1917 vol 90 c1351W
Commander WEDGWOOD

asked the Secretary of State for India what is the nature of the steps that are being taken by Sir Thomas Holland to mobilise the industries of India for the War?

Mr. CHAMBERLAIN

A special organisation is being created in India to develop and control the resources and industries of that country with reference to needs created by the War. It is not desirable to specify the nature of the stores which it is hoped to derive from India, but inquiries already made show that India should be able to render substantial assistance in many directions, and is most anxious to do so.
