HC Deb 09 November 1916 vol 87 cc432-3W
Mr. W. THORNE

asked the Secretary of State for War whether he is aware that soldiers are painting ships in the dry docks at Poplar and Millwall whilst at the same time there are a number of ships' painters out of employment; and whether, in view of the agreement arrived at between the War Office and the various trade Organisations in connection with using soldiers for doing civilian work, he intends taking any action?

Mr. FORSTER

The War Office is not in possession of any information on this point. If the hon. Member will furnish me with any particulars I will consider them.
