HC Deb 09 November 1916 vol 87 c432W
Sir C. KINLOCH-COOKE

asked what was the cost to the Government per pound weight of baked bread served to the troops in this country on the 1st November or. if the information be not available for that date, what was the cost on the latest date, or during the latest period, for which such information is available?

Mr. FORSTER

Calculated on the cost of Army flour and of baking by contract, the bread costs about 2d. per pound. When it is baked in the field bakeries the cost is slightly less.
