Mr. S. BENNasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer how many men of military age employed by the Board of Inland Revenue have asked permission to join the Army or Navy; and how many have received it?
§ Mr. McKENNAApproximately 2,000 men have received the permission of the Board of Inland Revenue to join His Majesty's Forces. The number of applications for permission has been very large, though exact figures cannot be given and would not, in any event, represent the number who were desirous of undertaking military service.
