HC Deb 21 April 1913 vol 52 c58W
Sir FORTESCUE FLANNERY

asked the President of the Board of Agriculture if his attention has been called to a resolution passed at the annual meeting by the Eastern Counties Farmers Co-operative Association in favour of compensation being paid for pigs slaughtered on account of tuberculosis by order of the authorities; whether the recent declaration made by the President of the Board of Agriculture that, in future, compensation for tuberculosis slaughter would be paid in respect of beasts will be extended also to pigs; and if the Department will issue notifications accordingly?

Mr. RUNCIMAN

The answer to the first part of the question is in the negative. The Tuberculosis Order recently issued by the Board deals only with certain forms of bovine tuberculosis, and I do not propose to extend its operations to pigs.
