HC Deb 17 June 1912 vol 39 c1442W
Mr. GOLDSMITH

asked whether a woman whose husband is regularly employed by a farmer, and who herself is employed in the house or dairy on one day in the week only, will become an insured person under the National Insurance Act?

Mr. MASTERMAN

If the employment is regular and not casual, it is employment within the meaning of the Act, unless no money payment is made. The employed person can, however, claim a certificate of exemption on the ground of dependence on her husband, and in that event the employer's contribution only will be payable.
