HC Deb 13 June 1912 vol 39 cc1204-5W
Sir HENRY NORMAN

asked the Postmaster-General what will be the total capital sum payable to the Marconi Company by the Imperial Government under the agreement for the installation of Imperial wireless telegraphic stations; if any estimate has been formed of the amount of the annual payments under the 10 per cent. royalty upon the gross receipts; for how many years will this royalty be payable; and if the House of Commons will have an opportunity of considering this agreement before it is signed?

Mr. HERBERT SAMUEL

The contract will require to be approved by a Resolution of the House, and, in accordance with the usual practice, it will be laid on the Table of the House as soon as it has been signed. It would not be convenient at present to furnish the details required by the hon. Member.

Major ARCHER-SHEE

asked the Postmaster-General if he can now state when the agreement with the Marconi Company in connection with the Imperial wireless stations will be laid?

Mr. HERBERT SAMUEL

I would refer the hon. Member to the answer I gave to the hon. Member for the West Riding Yorks (Otley Division) on Monday last. I have nothing to add to that statement at present.
