HC Deb 16 February 1911 vol 21 cc1429-30W
Mr. J. P. FARRELL

asked the hon. Member for Southampton, as representing the First Commissioner of Works, if he is aware that the grill ventilators in the Tea Room and News Room are fruitful sources of colds and chills to Members; and will he direct the substitution of ventilators on the Tobin system or any other, instead, removing those complained of?

Mr DUDLEY WARD

I am sorry to learn of the troubles to which attention is now drawn; but the ventilation of these rooms, under the conditions in which they are occupied, is a matter not unattended with difficulty. During the Easter Recess a fresh air inlet, to discharge overhead, will be substituted, experimentally, for one of the existing ventilators in the News Room, and should this prove successful, similar alterations will be made generally.
