HC Deb 21 May 1910 vol 116 c412W
Major CAYZER

asked the Home Secretary whether he is aware that there is a growing tendency amongst house agents and owners to insist upon a bonus being paid to them by in-going tenants; and whether the Government intends to take any action to prevent this practice.

Mr. PRATT

I have been asked to reply to the question of the hon. and gallant Member. My right hon. Friend is not aware that the practice referred to is in creasing. I may; however, point out that any payment of such a bonus in the case of a house to which the Increase of Rents, etc., Acts apply would be recover able by the tenant.
