HC Deb 28 April 1910 vol 17 cc743-4W
Mr. NEWMAN

asked the Chief Secretary whether he can state the number of lectures delivered and the number of students attending the course for economics held at the Queen's University, Cork, in this and the previous Session; what percentage of these students have subsequently satisfied the Board of Examiners as to their knowledge in the above subject; whether the professor now occupying the chair of economics in this university is a member of its council; and, if so, can he give the date of his appointment?

Mr. BIRRELL

The Professor of Economics in University College, Cork, was appointed on the 21st October last. He is not a member of the governing body of the college, but he is a member of the academic council, as all the professors are. I know nothing of his work. That is altogether a matter for the college authorities.
