HC Deb 21 September 1909 vol 11 c390W
Mr. MOORE

asked the Chief Secretary for Ireland if he will state what steps have been taken by the police authorities towards prosecuting the assailant of Mr. Wright, chairman of the Portadown Urban Council, who, while in the street, was struck on the head by a bottle thrown from licensed premises occupied by Nationalists; and whether, seeing that the owner of such premises permitted riotous conduct on the premises by his Nationalist customers, the authorities will object to this man's certificate at the annual sessions, or take other proceedings in respect of this assault?

Mr. CHERRY

The police have no evidence to identify Mr Wright's assailant, nor have they any information which would warrant their opposing of the licence of the person from whose premises a bottle was alleged to have been thrown at Mr. Wright.
