HC Deb 21 September 1909 vol 11 cc389-90W
Mr. J. P. FARRELL

asked the Chief Secretary if he will state when the proposed scheme for a division of those lands on the Douglas estate, county Longford, recently acquired by the Estates Commissioners, will be made; and whether before drawing up any such scheme or in any way ear-marking these lands the Commissioners will consent to receive a deputation from the Clonguish branch of the United Irish League, to give their views on the proper allotment of these lands by the Estates Commissioners?

Mr. BIRRELL

These lands, which are being acquired under the provisions of the Evicted Tenants Act, 1907, have not yet been vested in the Estates Commissioners. A scheme for their distribution in accordance with the provisions of that Act will be prepared as soon as practicable. Any representations submitted in writing will be considered by the Commissioners when dealing with the lands, but at present they are not prepared to receive a deputation on the subject.
