HC Deb 21 September 1909 vol 11 c388W
Mr. J. P. FARRELL

asked the Chief Secretary whether, in the case of evicted tenants on the Dopping Hepenstal estate who are not reinstated, equivalent holdings will be found which will compensate them for their loss elsewhere; and, if not, on what grounds have some of these tenants been left out of the scheme whilst others have been admitted, those who were left out having their holdings taken by planters who are bankrupt and a danger to the peace of the district of Mulnalaghta?

Mr. BIRRELL

I understand that the evicted tenants on this estate whose applications were approved by the Estates Commissioners have been reinstated by the owner. In regard to the remaining applications the Commissioners have in the exercise of their discretion decided to take no action. The constabulary authorities inform me that the persons in occupation of the holdings referred to in the concluding portion of the question are neither bankrupt nor a danger to the peace of the locality.
