HC Deb 04 November 1909 vol 12 cc2148-9W
Mr. STANGER

asked the Prime Minister whether, in the Bill proposed to be introduced next Session to amend the Old Age Pensions Act by abolishing the Poor Law disqualification, he will include provisions dealing with Section 10, Sub-sections (1) and (2), of The Naturalisation Act, 1870, in their application to old age pensions, and so restricting the operation of those Sub-sections that a widow, who is a natural-born British subject, and has always had her residence in the United Kingdom, shall not be deprived of a pension on the sole ground that her deceased husband was an alien?

The PRIME MINISTER

The question raised by my hon. and learned Friend will be considered.
