HC Deb 19 May 1909 vol 5 cc536-7W
Mr. JOWETT

asked the Postmaster-General what is the difference in the scales of pay for sorting clerks and telegraphists at the 36 offices reduced to the rank of sub-offices during the past two years, in comparison with the scales in vogue prior to the reduction from head offices?

Mr. SYDNEY BUXTON

The change in status did not involve any reduction in the scales of pay of the sorting clerks and telegraphists. At all those 36 offices the pay of the sorting clerks and telegraphists was improved on 1st January, 1908, under the recommendation of the Parliamentary Committee.
