§ Mr. SNOWDENasked the Secretary to the Treasury if he proposes to extend the scope of the promised committee of inquiry into the Customs to include an inquiry into the long-standing question of salaries in the Excise, seeing that there is now to be a partial amalgamation of the two services?
§ Mr. HOBHOUSE:I cannot make any statement at present as to the exact scope of the inquiry. Its primary object is to effect the amalgamation of the two services with the least possible injury to either individuals or classes.
