§ Mr. BRODIEasked whether, referring to the reply to a question on 17th December last, what measure of success had attended the efforts of the Surrey County Council to obtain land for Mr. Payne at Oxted?
§ Sir E. STRACHEYThe land for which Mr. Payne has applied cannot be acquired by the County Council, inasmuch as part of it is already cut up for building and the rest is ripe for building. Mr. Payne has been so informed, and has been asked if he is prepared to take land elsewhere in the parish.
§ Mr. BRODIEasked what has been done by the Surrey County Council to deal with the applications of Mr. Jenner and Mr. Malyon, members of the Oxted Land Club, for small holdings?
§ Sir E. STRACHEYThe Parish Council and not the County Council are dealing with the applications to which my hon. Friend refers, the amount of land applied for in each case being only one acre. The applicants have been offered certain land which the Council considered suitable, but the offer has been refused.
