HC Deb 16 July 1909 vol 7 c2488W
Mr. BOLAND

asked the Vice-President of the Department of Agriculture (Ireland) whether he is aware that, on the morning of 6th July, the railway company had no P-wagons at Valentia Harbour, with the result that live lobsters and fresh mackerel had to be loaded in a goods wagon and taken as far as Farranfore, where they were reloaded into a P-wagon; can he state the result of his recent inquiry at Valentia; and whether, in view of this further breakdown of the necessary arrangements for the fish traffic at Valentia, the Department proposes to take any, and, if so, what, steps to safeguard the fishing industry in South Kerry?

Mr. T. W. RUSSELL

The Department are aware of the facts referred to. Their inspector has reported, and they are now in communication with the railway company on the general question of the fish traffic as dealt with at Valentia.
