To ask the Secretary of State for Health, pursuant to his answer to the hon. Member for Ynys Môn (Mr. Jones) of 16 June 1997,Official Report, column 20, concerning dementia research, how much in each of the last five years his Department has spent on dementia research; and how much is allocated in the current financial year. Mr. Boateng

Guidance on anti-dementia drugs has been prepared by the Standing Medical Advisory Committee and was issued on 30 April 1998 to health authority directors of public health and National Health Service trust medical directors in England.
