§ Mr. BoatengWe have no plans at present to review the existing guidance to local authorities on ordinary residence. However, we intend to issue guidance shortly that will clarify the responsibilities of local authorities for people requiring residential care who have, or who are likely to receive, capital in excess of the upper capital limit of £16,000 and who may be placed, or move to, a different local authority area. This new guidance will assist authorities in determining responsibility for individuals who enter residential/nursing home care outside their usual area of residence.
