§ Dr. Reid[holding answer 17 December 1997]: Commacchio Group Royal Marines protects the nation's independent strategic nuclear deterrent on UK territory. It also administers Royal Marines Condor, Arbroath, for itself and for two other units of the Royal Marines Command. The Group's estimated annual running costs for financial year 1997–98, including Service Pay, are some £10 million.
