To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment, Transport and the Regions if he will list the 24 hour traffic volumes at each interchange on the A1 route round Tyneside from the Metro Centre to North Gosforth including the New Tyne crossing(a) at the most recent available period and (b) three years earlier. Letter from John Kerman to Mr. Jim Cousins, dated 17 December 1998: As you know the Secretary of State for the Environment, Transport and the Regions has asked Lawrie Haynes, the Chief Executive of the Highways Agency, to reply to your recent Parliamentary Question. You asked for traffic figures on the Al route round Tyneside from the Metro Centre to North Gosforth, including the Tyne Crossing. I am replying on Lawrie Haynes' behalf in his absence from the office. The attached table sets out the information available to us along the route you specify where we have counters, but these are not necessarily at the interchanges. I trust the information meets your requirement.
