HC Deb 25 March 1996 vol 274 c399W
Mr. Flynn

To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment what new proposals he has for bat conservation measures in(a) urban and (b) rural conservation areas. [22808]

Mr. Clappison

Four species of bat have had a range of measures proposed within biodiversity species action plans, which the Government are currently considering. A response to these proposals is expected this spring.

A range of measures within the rural environment to improve habitat identification and management are being considered. English Nature's species recovery programme for the greater horseshoe bat includes the promotion of appropriate land management around maternity roosts.
