HC Deb 25 March 1996 vol 274 c400W
Mr. Flynn

To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment what new proposals he has to improve the(a) rural and (b) urban habitats for butterfly and moth conservation. [22816]

Mr. Clappison

Preparation of action plans for the large blue and large copper, and the high brown and marsh fritillaries, via English Nature's species action plans is in hand in appropriate habitats.

Work continues on five of our most threatened moth species—reddish buff moth, black-veined moth, Sussex emerald moth, barberry carpet moth and fiery clearwing moth. The 1996 programme involves enlarging the areas of available habitat and restoration of other sites in preparation for colonisation.
