HC Deb 09 January 1996 vol 269 cc110-1W
Mr. Austin Mitchell

To ask the Secretary of State for Wales what web site his Department maintains on the Internet; what information is provided there; how often it is updated; what is the address; and if he or his Department answers questions and supplies additional information through the Internet. [7578]

Mr. Hague

The Welsh Office is currently piloting a world wide web site on the Internet. The pilot project is being led by the Welsh Office industry and training department and it currently offers information covering regional selective assistance, people and prosperity—an agenda for action in Wales, and assisted areas in Wales. This information was first made available in November 1995 and will be updated regularly in 1996.

The Department does not presently answer questions or supply additional information through the Internet. Part of the remit of the pilot project is to examine the methodology for doing so to help inform the development of policy and on the use of the Internet.
