Mr. Darling

To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland what assessment he has made of the work of the SACRO reparation and mediation project in Edinburgh.

Mr. Stewart

I consider this pilot project to have made a significant contribution to the development of knowledge and practice on reparation and mediation.

Mr. Darling

To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland if he will now reconsider his decision on the amount of funding made by the social work services group to the SACRO reparation and mediation project in Edinburgh for the year 1993–94.

Mr. Stewart

The grant offered to the SACRO reparation and mediation project in Edinburgh was increased from £16,720 for 1992–93 to £21,000 in 1993–94, an increase of 26 per cent. I do not propose to reconsider the grant offer for 1993–94.
