§ Mr. DorrellThe Government have proposed two alternative methods for providing pensions for British Rail pensioners and deferred pensioners after privatisation in a consultation paper published on 20 January. We have sought the views of pensioners and trustees; and await the completion of the consultation process before coming to a decision on which proposal to adopt.
The arrangements made for the pension funds of other nationalised industries or services intended for privatisation will depend upon the particular circumstances of each privatisation.
