HC Deb 15 March 1993 vol 221 c102W
Mr. Milburn

To ask the Chancellor of the Exchequer what was the level of inward investment in the first half of 1992 expressed as a percentage of the level in the first half of 1991 in each of the OECD nations.

Mr. Nelson

The latest comprehensive information on the amount of inward direct investment in each of the major OECD nations is contained in the OECD publication "Economic Outlook" volume 51 (June 1992), a copy of which is available in the Library. It relates to 1991 and earlier years. The data show that the United Kingdom is the second largest recipient of inward direct investment after the United States of America. In 1991, inward direct investment in the United Kingdom accounted for 31 per cent. of the total inward investment in the seven major OECD counties.
