Mr. Milburn

To ask the Chancellor of the Exchequer what percentage of gross domestic product was taken by(a) private consumption and (b) fixed investment in the United Kingdom in each year from 1979; and what were the average figures for the OECD.

The requested information in respect of the United Kingdom and the OECD can be derived, on a consistent basis to 1991, from data contained in the OECD publication "National Accounts Main Aggregates Volume I 1960–1991" on pages 77 and 17.
