To ask the Chancellor of the Exchequer if he will consider extending the 714 or similar self-employment scheme to enable more unemployed people to become temporarily and/or seasonally self-employed with less bureaucracy; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Dorrell

The special 714 scheme for the construction industry does not itself confer self-employed status. Its purpose is to prevent tax evasion. There are no plans to extend the scheme.
