(a) Families with children are defined as couples (both aged less than 60), with at least one dependant child; and single persons, aged less than 60, with at least one dependant child.
(b) Pensioner householders are defined as couples where claimant or partner is aged 60 or over; and single persons aged 60 or over. These have been termed "elderly".
(c) Other households are defined as couples (both aged less than 60), without children; and single persons aged less than 60, without children.
(d) Housing Association tenancies are included in the figures for private tenants.
