HL Deb 23 November 1992 vol 540 cc55-6WA
Lord Henderson of Brompton

asked Her Majesty's Government:

What undertakings or statements they have made to British Rail concerning provision for expenditure by British Rail on the Thameslink project after 1995–96; and

What undertakings or other statements they have made to British Rail concerning provision for expenditure by British Rail on the King's Cross project after 1995–96.

The Earl of Caithness

No undertakings or statements have been made to British Rail in relation to funding for these projects after 1995–96.

Lord Henderson of Brompton

asked Her Majesty's Government:

What provision they have made in their public spending plans for 1993–94 to 1995–96 for expenditure by British Rail on the Thameslink 2000 project, including any Government grants that may be required; and

What provision they have made in their public spending plans for 1993–94 to 1995–96 for expenditure by British Rail on the King's Cross project, including Government grants that may be required.

The Earl of Caithness

It is for British Rail to determine its priorities. They are currently considering how to allocate their funding as announced in the Autumn Statement. Subject to that, there should be adequate provision for British Rail to spend the following sums on the combined King's Cross-Thameslink project (no figures are available for the individual projects).

£million
1993–94 12
1994–95 8
1995–96 8
