HC Deb 16 December 1992 vol 216 c282W
Mr. Harry Greenway

To ask the Secretary of State for Transport what proposals he has for ensuring that consumers of rail services are adequately represented after privatisation.

Mr. Freeman

We believe that an effective voice for consumers is vital. The current system of consumer representation by the consultative committees works well and we are committed to ensuring that none of the benefits of this system are lost. We have today published a document called "Railway Privatisation: Providing a Voice for the Passenger" which describes the Government's proposals for achieving this in the privatised railway. I am placing copies in the Library.
